Real talk: I never expected Boston to blow me away the way that it did. I knew that it was full of history, housed sporting clubs that I didn’t support, and full of opinionated nor’easterners with funny accents.
Sounds like a winner, right?
I mean, what’s not to like?
Never have I been more than happy to shove my foot in my mouth and eat my words.
I loved everything about Boston: the traffic, the smells, the sounds, the people. As I sit here and try to write about every aspect of my whirlwind weekend trip, I figured sharing some of my favorite pictures would be better. Enjoy my Boston Picture Diary.
I loved walking around the different neighborhoods, winding up in busy tourist-filled areas and beelining it to some of the quiet residential streets.
“Make Way For Ducklings!” Today, the beloved story is immortalized by 9 bronze statues: Mrs. Mallard, Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack. The statues were designed by Nancy Schön and placed in the Boston Public Garden as a tribute to the author, Robert McCloskey. When I visited, the ducklings and Mrs. Mallard were decked out in their yellow springtime colors!
I love the juxtaposition between the historical and modern buildings in Boston…and it reminds me so much of my trip to Frankfurt, Germany.
One minute, I’m walking through a modern, financial district, and then BAM! Historically significant church or meetinghouse. The inner nerd literally had no chill in either city!
What’s your favorite part about Boston? Have you been? Have you seen any of the places I included in my Boston picture diary?
